What to do nearby
Lutjestrand / Amstelmeer
Just a 7-minute walk from our campground is this cosy beach with lots of options. The beach is divided into three zones, and the surf/windsurf area is the first thing you notice. A spacious parking lot leads to a grassy zone that slopes into the water—perfect for laying out your gear to dry while enjoying a snack or drink at the ‘Beach Bites’ terrace. Don’t have gear or can’t surf yet? No worries—there’s also a surf school and rental available!

Just a little further on, you’ll reach the super child-friendly sandy beach. A protected water basin lets even the smallest ones splash safely. Not keen on getting wet? There are climbing, sliding, and other playground structures in the sand! There’s also a small beach bar for drinks and snacks. Everything you need for a great family day out!
For kitesurfers, there’s a spacious kite spot a bit further along—plenty of room to rig and land your kite, safe distance between kiters and windsurfers, and tons of fellow enthusiasts when the wind picks up.
Cycling and walking across Wieringen
Wieringen used to be a Wadden island, and its beautiful, varied landscape reflects that history. You can wander along the Wadden coast or cycle through lanes dotted with old farmhouses around charming villages like Oosterland and Stroe. Don’t miss a coffee break at ‘De KoffieSilo’ or picking a bouquet of heather from the pick-your-own garden in Stroe!
-
Bike rental: A circuit around the island is perfect for a day trip! If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one from us for €10/day (regular bike), or arrange E-bikes, E-fatbikes or E-scooters (from two days rental onwards) via Fred’s Verhuur in Schagen. Need route suggestions? We’ll be happy to help!
Landgoed Hoenderdaell Animal Park
Just a 10-minute drive from our campsite is this beautifully landscaped animal park. Wander along forest paths past monkey islands, brown bears, wolves and kangaroos. Visit Stichting Leeuw or SOS Dolfijn. At scheduled times, you can watch the ring-tailed lemurs being fed or see lions hunt in the simulator. Learn about exotic birds in the Avitorium, or take a break at the onsite restaurant with a view over the playground. For more info, see www.hoenderdaell.nl.
